The Town of Lookout Mountain has its own permitting authority. Some areas also fall under HOA covenants or historic district guidelines that govern materials and appearance independent of the building permit requirements.
North Georgia — Catoosa, Walker, and Whitfield Counties
For properties in Ringgold and Catoosa County, permits are issued through the Catoosa County Building and Zoning Department. Walker County (Chickamauga, Lafayette) and Whitfield County (Dalton) have their own permitting authorities with similar requirements.
